LA PAIMPOLETTE vs LE KRAKORN

December 2021 in Paimpol, Brittany. Souen experimented with new street-art technique: pasting handmade collages some measuring up to 12 meters wide and 4 meters high.

« La Paimpolette vs Le Krakorn » depicts the female captain in her iconic sailor’s striped shirt, along with characters from her maritime world: her lover, Matelot Rizon, and the Krakorn (half Kraken, half Unicorn).

Each collage tells a story on the city’s walls: characters unknowingly trapped in tentacles, forming a fable about individual freedom and autonomy. This resonates with the societal context of 2021, marked by the coronavirus pandemic and repeated lockdowns.

A children’s book based on the story has been self-published in December 2022.

Souen illustrated and handcrafted each collage.

She wrote the book La Paimpolette vs Le Krakorn and oversaw the entire publishing process with printers and distributors.

Souen also promoted the project on social media and in the press.
